Site characterisation and integrated ground modelling for the Dutch Nederwiek Wind Park Site I (2024–2025). Quantitative seismic inversion contribution to a partnership led by Arup for the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
SolidGround partnered with Arup, Inosys, BGS, and RockWave on the site characterisation for Nederwiek Wind Park Site I, located 90 km off the Dutch west coast. The project, led by Arup for the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), produced an integrated ground model that prospective developers can use to bid on the site with greater confidence.
The work combined ultra-high-resolution seismic data with extensive geotechnical investigations and laboratory data. SolidGround's contribution centred on quantitative seismic inversion — using pre-stack inversion to predict geotechnical parameters spatially across the site by linking elastic-parameter outputs to physical soil samples.
Three deliverables underpin tender bids on the zone: a Geological Ground Model (GGM) mapping changes in the earth’s layers in the upper 100 m below the seabed, a Geotechnical Interpretative Report (GIR) summarising field and lab data to reduce risks for foundation and cable design, and an Integrated Ground Model (IGM) — a 3D digital site analysis combining geophysical data and ground surveys to predict soil conditions across the area.
